I think we can all agree that having professional images on our blogs enhances the overall look. Stock photos can literally make or break an otherwise great blog post.
The fact is that appearance is everything in the online world.
If a website doesn’t look nice, we don’t want to stick around and keep reading.
Ultimately, as bloggers we want to keep our readers engaged and our site for as long as possible. You want your audience to have a good experience and a big part of that is our content that includes images.
If you are at the beginning stages of starting a blog, this is the perfect time to get your blog off on the right foot and looking professional from the start.
But, we are not all professional photographers. Plus, even if you take stellar photos, you may just not have the time to put into creating all of your own images.
Because of that we need professional, pretty, fun and engaging stock photos at the ready!
I have rounded up the best places to go for free stock images as well as premium stock images that can be your go to place for pretty images.
Canva is one of the most popular places for stock images. There are thousands of free images to use. Among all of the free images you are also able to purchase images as well. Every now and then you may come accross an image that you love. When that happens make the small splurge and buy it!
PicMonkey allows you to do a free trial to use its stock photos. After the free trial there are three different monthly plans you can subscribe to. The most basic is $7.99 a month. The highest priced plan is $33.99. It depends how often you feel that you need new images. For some the basic plan would be sufficient while others will need the $33.99 plan.
Creative Market has a weekly newsletter you can sign up for. The newsletter will remind you of the freebies it gives away each week. This can include free stock images or free fonts. I personally get their emails, and have downloaded tons of free stock images that I still use on this website!
Pexels is a super easy website to use. You simply type in the search engine what type of photo you are looking for. For example you could write the word “flower” and tons of flower images will pop up. From there simply download the photo. It’s that easy.
Unsplash is very similar to how Pexels works. You simply type what you are looking for and poof, your images appear.
Burst provides free high resolution stock images for download. You can search through categories like “dogs” or “cats” or simply search for a specific image such as a “laptop” to find what you want. Quick and easy, because who has the time for complicated matters?
#7 Haute Stock
Haute Stock has beautiful bright feminine photos. You do need to sign up to become a member and pick a plan that’s right for you. The two options are $99 every three months, or $299 for an entire year. With those plans you do get access to over 4000 photos, with more being added all the time.
#8 Styled Stock Society
Styled Stock Society gives free stock photo downloads every month as well as providing a membership option. In fact, just for signing up for their email list gives you 20 free style stock photos right away!
#9 Ivory Mix
Ivory Mix is a great place for free feminine flat lay photos. Just think, lots of white and pink with pretty metal accents such as a nice necklace or shiny paper clip. They also make it very easy to download a purchased package of around 30 photos for a specific theme, such as “the furry friend”. In addition to the paid packages there are also freebies just for signing up for their newsletter.
